Sexier Adso Popups
Feb 9th, 2008 by admin
Our new popups went live last night. They’re confirmed to work with Firefox and Internet Explorer; I’ll be checking on Safari as soon as Steve Jobs sends me an iMac. This announcement may not make the front page of Xinhua, but it’s worth blogging about for two major improvements:
- clicking on words lets users edit dictionary definitions.
- highlighting words (click and drag….) adds them to the dictionary (don’t forget to add the english gloss).
I’m pleased with the new scripts because they pack the most important editing functionality right into the display, and have significantly cut down on my use of the full editing page. The only thing I’ve found *more* difficult to do under the new system is copy-and-paste, a reasonable sacrifice for easier word editing and entry.
[…] Adsotrans now has “sexier popups!” […]
Looks great in Opera and Safari on a Mac. Dunno what I’d do without adso!

Thanks to my bookmarks, I noticed that the “old” Adso is still working, for people who prefer copy-and-paste over inline dictionary editing.

I’m loving the new inline pop-ups. Just added two new words.
But yes, like somebody else said, the nice pinyin has disappeared.
